What is Life Coaching?

Historically coaching has been the domain of physical pursuits such as the sports area or the arts. More recently it has been accepted in the business and corporate sector, and over the last decade it has become increasingly popular to engage a coach to guide you in areas of life where you may feel stuck or in need of change.

Life coaching is usually high on individual accountability and tends not to attract clients from a victim consciousness viewpoint.

Life coaching can be described in terms of two general pathways:

  • Process or goal setting orientated coaching   (mechanistic)
  • Holistic coaching   (holistic or inclusive)

Goal setting

In this aspect of coaching the coach will enter into a relationship with the client in terms of expert or advisor to give advice to the client on how to achieve specific outcomes or get certain results. The Coach often uses a pre set goal setting model with very precise expectations and relies heavily on written goals or targets and measurable outcomes.

Holistic

Holistic coaching is inclusive and multi level in its model and application. A holistic coach will enter into a relationship with a client and perceive them as a whole person who is on a transformational journey. The coach's expectation is that the client has their own answers within themselves. Because the coach has traveled this path, he or she enters into a contract to guide their client towards fulfilling their vision and supporting them on the elevation or awakening of their consciousness.

Internationally Life Coaching has become one of the fastest growing industries in the world. It is now common for people to seek support from experienced practitioners who can support them to make meaningful changes without being perceived as broken or deficient in some way.

This website is dedicated to Holistic Life Coaches world wide who subscribe to an holistic philosophy and are also committed to their own transformational journey.
